Description
Myler Black Steel 6 3/4″ MBB Flat Shank, MB 27HP Rollback Correctional High Port, Level 2-3
The MB 27HP is a Myler correctional mouthpiece, which is a ported mouthpiece that collapses on to the outer lip and bars, and rotates on to the tongue. The port, although narrow, offers room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit. When the reins are engaged and the mouthpiece rotates on to the tongue, it applies two concentrated points of pressure on the tongue for quick control. Because this port is 2″ high, it can apply some palate pressure, but allows for extra tongue relief. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.
- Independent Side Movement
- Sweet Iron Mouthpiece
- Curved Mouthpiece
- Black shank will discolor over time to antique brown
- Stainless Steel Dots
- Copper Inlay
Notes: A horse with a thicker tongue or lower palate is more likely to feel more palate pressure from this mouthpiece. For a mouthpiece with the same benefits but a lower port, see the MB 27PB or MB 27PB MP. For the same mouthpiece with no Independent Side Movement, see the MB 27. For the non-correctional version of this mouthpiece see the MB 43HP.
The MBB shank is a length of flat black steel curved slightly back towards the horse, with a teardrop purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment to the cheek with a decorative “stack.” The shank is decorated with stainless steel dots. The purchase is angled slightly away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. The black steel will discolor over time to an antique brown.
The MBB flat shank is an indirect (curb) rein action designed to be used with a curb strap which attaches to the purchase. This shank uses the combination of fixed cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin and poll.
