Your waterproof animal rugs and coats could be soaking up water just because they are dirty. First, try cleaning them with Nikwax Rug Wash™ and if your animal rug or coat is fairly new, or recently re-waterproofed the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) will be revitalized just from cleaning. But, once the rug/coat has been thoroughly worn, you will need to add DWR, using Nikwax Rug Proof™, after cleaning first with Nikwax Rug Wash™.

Using the right cleaning product is as important as using the right waterproofing product. Conventional detergents leave behind a thin water-absorbent film on materials, which masks their water repellency (DWR). Therefore, always clean your animal’s waterproof rugs and coats with Nikwax Rug Wash™. Remember that dirt itself works against water repellency, so regular cleaning will enhance performance.

Nikwax Rug Proof adds Durable Water Repellency (DWR) while maintaining breathability. It is quick and easy to apply in the washing machine, and its DWR develops on air drying.

Nikwax Rug Wash™ has been specifically designed and optimised for breathable waterproof animal rugs and coats. It leaves a flexible water repellent treatment on individual fibers allowing moisture vapor to pass through, maintaining breathability, while protecting your animal from getting wet in the rain.

Finally, washing machine application ensures that the treatment goes right through the rug or coat, treating seams, tapes and cords, as well as the fabric.
